Development beyond the screen

A worthwhile investment

There is nothing to beat learning with others in the same room.

For over three decades, Oasis has been a beacon of development, and following the pandemic we are choosing to embrace in-person programmes with renewed vigour.

Amidst the allure of online convenience, the call of genuine connection draws us back to physical spaces. In-person gatherings offer a warmth that transcends pixels, fostering authentic human connections and immersive learning experiences.

Here’s why we think this is vital:

Its Enriching!

Without getting too poetic, there is something unique and profoundly enriching about in-person development that simply can't be achieved through a screen. We know this.

One of the most significant benefits is the opportunity for authentic human connection. Genuine eye contact, real ‘surround sound’ and physical warmth that digital platforms greatly diminish the potential for. Engagement through a screen often lacks depth whilst being physically present in a room with others - for more than just a few hours - fosters a sense of togetherness and community that is hard, if not impossible, to replicate.

There is a particular and dynamic power in immersing oneself fully in a learning environment, free from the distractions and the temptations of multitasking that often accompany online experiences. By physically removing ourselves from familiar surroundings and dedicating uninterrupted time to our development, we can fully engage with the learning experience and the people we are alongside.

Its Sensational!

In-person development incorporates ‘hands-on’, visceral learning activities and experiential processes that stimulate all the senses. Whether it's group discussions, skills practice, or collaborative inquiry into particular questions, these present in the space experiences facilitate active participation and a deeper understanding.  Not to be underestimated also is the richness of feedback available from all of those senses and sensations, that hold the potential to enhance the learning process, allowing us to more fully experience and understand the impact of our presence and interactions.

While attending in-person programmes may require an investment of time and resources, our participants tell us that the benefits far outweigh the costs. The opportunity to step away from daily routines, immerse ourselves in a supportive learning environment, and connect with others on a deeper level can also be hugely restorative. Time spent traveling offers time to mentally prepare or reflect, staying away from home adding to the overall experience of focusing on our own needs which can often be subsumed by the pressing demands of work, colleagues or family. Simply, investing in ourselves. Taking time out.

So, whilst online programmes do offer convenience and ease of access, in-person development provides a unique and transformative learning opportunity that transcends the digital realm. The human connection, immersive learning environment, hands-on activities, and cultivation of presence and connection, make in-person learning essential for meaningful development, particularly and especially if that development requires of any form of learning about human relating. It’s a worthwhile investment and one that we hope you will decide is worth joining us for.
